Change negotiations — commonly known in Finland as YT negotiations — are discussions between the employer and employees aimed at ensuring that staff have the opportunity to influence their working conditions and any potential redundancies.
YT negotiations are held when an employer is considering business decisions that, if implemented, would affect the position of one or more employees.

Statutory Change Security
Following the 2017 legislative reform, companies employing more than 30 people are required to offer change security support to employees who have worked for at least five years and are being made redundant for financial or production-related reasons. Change security refers to coaching and training designed to help those affected find new employment more quickly. Typically, the support package — equivalent to about one month’s salary — plays a crucial role in strengthening re-employment opportunities. At the same time, it reinforces the employer’s reputation as a responsible organization that genuinely cares about its people.
